What is the MJCC Advanced Camp?
The Advanced Camp is a one-week overnight experience for returning campers who have successfully completed the regular session of MJCC and were in good standing with staff upon graduation. The Advanced Camp builds upon skills learned in the regular session and takes them further to gain new advanced experience in areas covered during the regular two-week camp.
Who can attend the MJCC Advanced Camp?
Campers who successfully graduated from the regular two-week session of MJCC and were in good standing with the staff and administration are eligible to apply to the Advanced Camp. A maximum of 20 campers will be chosen to attend. Any camper who applies and is not chosen is put on a waitlist.
When will the MJCC Advanced Camp run?
The Advanced Camp will run from Monday August 3rd to Friday August 7th. Campers MUST attend the full session and may not leave for any reason.
What is the cost of tuition for the Advanced Camp?
The cost of tuition for the Advanced Camp is $600 which covers the cost of food, lodging, and equipment.
When will parents be notified that their child has been chosen to attend?
Parents will be notified by May if their child has been chosen to attend. Any child not chosen will be placed on a waitlist.
Can my child bring their phone to the Advanced Camp?
No, just like the regular session of MJCC, campers are not allowed to bring their phones. Phones are distracting and often make homesickness worse for campers.
What should my child bring to camp?
Bring everything you would for the regular session except less of it! As campers are only in attendance for one week, they don’t need to bring as many clothes but still prepare for rainy weather and bring all of the same sleeping materials!
What is the application process for the Advanced Camp?
To apply for the advanced camp, parents must email majuniorcamp@gmail.com for a copy of the application. Applications must also be accompanied with a $100.00 non-refundable deposit and letters written by both the parent and the child on why the child should be chosen to attend camp. Any application received without letters will not be considered for admittance. Should a child be chosen to attend, additional paperwork will be sent to parents by our office administrator.
